Lake Shasta Area

Our vacation home is a restful setting for family vacations, water sports, blue ribbon fishing, (winter skiing at Mt Shasta ski park), special events, a comfortable Ashland getaway or just to relax. Given its close proximity to Bridge Bay, Packers Bay,  Sugarloaf and Antlers marinas boating, water skiing, wake boarding, swimming and fishing in Lake Shasta are at your fingertips.

As a side note, Redding was recently referred to in Northwest Fly Fishing as "Trout Town." Blue ribbon fisheries are everywhere and the area is served by the internationally famous Fly Shop. Professionally guided fishing can be arranged for you. The Upper and Lower Sacramento Rivers are 20 minutes from the lodge. You can reach Hat creek, the Trinity, Pitt, McCloud and Applegate rivers in 90 minutes. Two hours takes you to the Klamath, Eel and Fall rivers, and more lakes and creeks than you can count… or take a short stroll from the lodge and fish Lake Shasta.

Sightseeing abounds! Redding's Calatrava Bridge is a world
class "must see." It connects with the Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the McConnell Arboretum. You can walk, run or bike the 10 mile Sacramento River Trail. Shasta Dam is an engineering marvel and the Shasta Caverns are creepy beautiful. Wineriesare numerous, particularly in the historic town of Vina. And don't miss the Railroad Museum near Dunsmuir. And there's Mt. Shasta, all 14,161 feet of her.

Entertaining at the lodge is a breeze. The lodge and grounds are commodious to say the least…perfect for social events. We have entertained over 100 people with a band, catered barbecue (and mechanical bull!), Bocce Ball, horseshoes and space left over. Plenty of room for truck or R.V. and boat trailer plus parking for several other cars.

Local restaurants are a hoot. The Basshole, Klondike, Allysons, all just minutes away in Lakehead (no reservations needed), provide real 'flavor', music, and unusually good barbecue. Redding boasts several first rate eateries: Jacks for the best steaks ever (first come first served); Moonstone Bistro for a cutting edge culinary experience and, Maritime for a true gastronomic experience (reservations recommended). Madeline's in Dunsmuir is worth the 30 minute drive (reservations a must).
